[Re] Waste and Goodwill Industries of Alberta Announce Strategic Partnership to Create Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Edmonton, Alberta – [March 7, 2024] – [Re] Waste, a leading innovator in recycling solutions, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Goodwill Industries of Alberta, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities. This collaboration aims to create job opportunities and support Goodwill's mission through [Re] Waste's recycling program.

[Re] Waste's recycling program specializes in processing mixed plastics and hard-to-recycle materials often destined for landfills. While we serve various industries, our cannabis packaging recycling program is particularly impactful. Due to the diverse materials used in cannabis packaging, such as plastic, glass, paper/cardboard, vapes, and batteries, more sorting is required. This is where our partnership with Goodwill comes into play.

"[Re] Waste is thrilled to work alongside Goodwill Industries of Alberta to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities," said Corey Saban, Founder and CEO of [Re] Waste. "Our partnership not only advances our social impact goals but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and community service."

Currently, the program employs four incredible individuals through Goodwill, with the potential to create more jobs as [Re] Waste expands its recycling partnerships. "Through our partnership with Goodwill, we’re not just recycling materials; we’re helping to rebuild lives and provide invaluable opportunities for those often overlooked,” said Corey Saban. “We are committed to expanding our social footprint, one job at a time."

Goodwill Industries of Alberta is known for its mission to provide individuals with disabilities or barriers the opportunity to enhance their lives through meaningful employment. The organization's programs such as Career Connections and Goodwill @ Work focus on helping people with disabilities find and maintain employment, contributing to their personal development and the well-being of the community.

"We are excited to partner with [Re] Waste for support of their innovative recycling program," said Dale Monaghan, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of Alberta. "This collaboration aligns with our mission to create dignity and joy through the power of work, while providing new opportunities to contribute to environmental sustainability."

The partnership between [Re] Waste and Goodwill Industries of Alberta is a testament to the power of collaboration in achieving social and environmental goals. Together, they are setting an example for how businesses and non-profits can work together to create positive change.

We provide employment opportunities in our thrift stores and an accommodating work environment for Albertans with disabilities in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Grand Prairie and Calgary. Our Edmonton based Career Connections program has been providing employment coaching, job search, and training to individuals with developmental disabilities for decades.
